Top 5 Nintendo Switch Games You Might Have Missed

Nintendo Switch has some amazing smaller games that might have been overshadowed by the big name games that were released in the past year. Those being Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,  and Splatoon 2.

These 5 games below are ones that you might have missed that are either indie’s or small studio made games.

Also, check out our Top 5 Unreleased Games for the Nintendo Switch here!

Aegis Defenders

Really fun mechanics, amazing sprite work, and music I can just listen to for hours by itself.

Game Description: In a world where control over ancient technologies means power, a ruthless Empire has arisen. Play as a team of Ruinhunters searching for the one thing that can save their village – a legendary weapon known as Aegis. Explore, build, defend and play cooperatively in this 2D platformer that blends Metroidvania-style combat with Tower Defense strategy.

Subsurface Circular

Another brilliant masterpiece created by Mike Bithell. Nothing else is needed to be or should be said to prevent spoilers.

Game Description: A detective stationed on the Subsurface Circular investigates a series of disappearances among the city’s robotic working class. Collect words and phrases, then use them in dialogue puzzles to uncover the world’s secrets and determine its future.  Inspired by classic adventure games and modern dialogue systems, Bithell Games has created a single session story which respects your time and your intelligence.

Crawl

This game is INSANELY fun with four people. I played this with my friends and family over Christmas break and we meant to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2, but we just kept on coming back to this game. The graphics and voice acting are so well done and the gameplay is simply a masterpiece.  Also, if you change your name to Poop, you will be a piece of poop.

Game Description: Crawl is the local multiplayer dungeon crawler where your friends control the monsters! Battle through dungeons and power up your hero – if a friend kills you they take your place and it’s their turn to crawl. It’s a race to gain enough XP and loot to take on the hulking final boss!

Golf Story

Golf Story is a game that essentially came out of nowhere, it is a golf game with RPG mechanics. The game is quite fun and just have great fun relaxing on the couch and playing a few rounds leveling up.

Game Description: Golf Story combines the sheer excitement of golf with a serious story that plays out over 8 different courses. Play the story of a golfer who is forced to give up all that he holds dear for one last shot at accomplishing his dreams.  But all is not so simple in the world of golf. To best today’s players, you have to be able to keep up with them both on and off the course.

Graceful Explosion Machine

Graceful Explosion Machine is one of those gems that looks simple, and then all of a sudden 3 hours have passed and you have fallen in love with the game.

Game Description: Skillfully pilot the Graceful Explosion Machine, a fighter ship armed with a ludicrously overpowered quad-weapon array! Lost in deep space, you’ll shoot, dash and combo your way through jewel-hued alien worlds, fighting crystalline enemies to find a way home. The GEM fighter is the most advanced single-pilot fighter in the galaxy, offering precise controls, nimble movement, and devastating firepower.

Honorable Mention:

Celeste

This game is only an honorable mention because I want to shed some light on games that didn’t get much fanfare. Celeste is an amazing game, it received many 9’s and 10’s from reviewers and also should be included on anyone’s Nintendo Switch. There was a week or two where this was on everyone’s mind.  If you don’t have this game get it now.

Game Description: Help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain, in this super-tight, hand-crafted platformer from the creators of multiplayer classic TowerFall.

What do you think of this list? Is your’s different? Did we miss out on any game?  Let me know in the comments!
